The GAIN Protection Shield Knee Pads have been a staple in the freestyle scootering community since 2017, quickly becoming GAIN’s best-selling product. These innovative pads were the first high-quality knee protectors specifically designed for the sport. Recognizing the need for an upgrade, GAIN has completely reimagined these essential pads, resulting in the impressive new Shield PROs.
At first glance, the Shield Pros may appear similar to their predecessors, but every detail has been enhanced with new, improved materials. The base is now constructed from a checkered, super-strong rip-stop Cordura, while the Kevlar strip at the bottom offers even greater durability. The top of the pads is made from robust AirMesh fabric, providing excellent ventilation alongside a stylish appearance.
The design has also evolved to feature a three-segment construction, which includes a top segment, a middle section equipped with an advanced foam insert, and a separate bottom segment that conforms more naturally to your leg without applying pressure to the shin. This innovative design ensures a perfect fit while maximizing comfort. The main foam insert has been meticulously engineered to hug the knee closely and is multi-layered, and reinforced with anti-shock foam for superior impact absorption. This makes the Shield Pros perfect for executing big tricks, far exceeding the performance of standard single-density foam pads. Additionally, a sticky silicone-printed strip inside the pads prevents them from sliding down during use.
The new straps are designed to be more resistant to velcro hook wear and are firmer for a secure fit. The back flaps are crafted from DuraTex neoprene, enhancing the overall durability of the product. For added customization, the replaceable plastic caps are now made from a flexible compound and are available in a variety of unique “Swirl” colourways, allowing riders to match their pads to their scooters.
